What is a Tokyo trading VPS?
A Tokyo trading VPS is a Windows VPS hosted in Equinix TY3 — the largest financial connectivity hub in Japan. The Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE / JPX), the Tokyo Financial Exchange (TFX), and most Japanese forex liquidity providers are reachable in under 1ms from TY3.
The primary use cases are USD/JPY scalping during the Asian session (when home-connection latency from Europe or North America is at its highest), Asian-session breakout strategies, and any system trading USD/JPY, AUD/JPY, EUR/JPY, or GBP/JPY pairs where Tokyo is the dominant pricing venue.
Why traders host in Tokyo
For an Asian-session strategy run from London or New York, broker latency varies between 150ms and 250ms depending on routing. A Tokyo VPS reduces that to under 1ms for Asian liquidity. The improvement is most visible on USD/JPY during 23:00–02:00 GMT (Tokyo open) and on AUD/JPY around the Sydney/Tokyo overlap.
Tokyo is also the right location for traders running 24/5 systems who simply want their VPS in the same time zone as their primary session.
| Destination | Round-trip latency | Use case |
|---|---|---|
| JPX matching engine | < 0.8ms | Japanese equities, Nikkei futures |
| Asian forex liquidity hub | < 1.0ms | USD/JPY, AUD/JPY, EUR/JPY |
| Singapore SGX (cross-DC) | ~80ms | For SGX, prefer Singapore instance |
| HKEX (cross-DC) | ~55ms | For HKEX, prefer Hong Kong instance |
| LSE (cross-DC) | ~220ms | For LSE, prefer London instance |
