What is a London trading VPS?
A London trading VPS is a Windows VPS hosted in Equinix LD4 in Slough, about 30km west of central London. LD4 is the dominant European financial connectivity hub: the London Stock Exchange (LSE), ICE Futures Europe, and most European ECN forex brokers run their matching engines or gateways there.
A LD4 PropVPS instance routes orders to any of those venues in under 500 microseconds. Compared to a home connection from anywhere in Europe (typically 15–50ms to the broker), the slippage reduction is substantial — and matters most during the London open, when EUR/USD and GBP/USD volatility is highest.
Why LD4 matters for European brokers and prop firms
Most European ECN brokers — IC Markets EU, Pepperstone EU, Vantage, Blueberry Markets, ActivTrades, Tickmill EU — keep their order gateway in LD4. FTMO’s preferred liquidity providers bridge through LD4. Hantec Markets and Purple Trading (common FundedNext bridges) sit in LD4. For European prop-firm traders the choice of VPS location is almost always LD4.
London-session scalpers and news traders benefit disproportionately from LD4 hosting because the London open is the highest-volume forex window of the day. A 50ms reduction in broker round-trip is the difference between getting filled at the quoted price and getting filled 2–4 pips worse on a fast EUR/USD move.
